Assassin's Creed Introduces Unexpected Attack on Titan Event for Thanksgiving
In a unexpected collaboration that breaks traditional expectations, Ubisoft has announced an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Adventure Disclosed
According to the official statement, "A strange meeting leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where whispers of forbidden practices and monstrous transformations reverberate through the obscurity." The narrative presents a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who charges the characters with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a secret group.
The adventure focuses on "bizarre trials and a terrifying foe" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Iconic Locations and Transformations
The trailer highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer ends with a powerful scene showing a character, probably the hostage, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Items and Extra Content
Players who finish the quest will obtain an special katana in addition to several objects concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Special arms
- Survey Corps steed
Latest Free Story Update
This update also brings the game's third free story episode, titled "The Mystery." This humorous quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic abilities: Naoe reveals a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also features a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately clarify some lingering questions from the main storyline.
Previous Japanese Animation Partnerships
This marks not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with well-known anime series. The series formerly included a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla informally featured a quest that unmistakably nodded to the popular series One-Punch Man.
