It's a challenge for Australia to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

This is the squad that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and once went 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

It needed as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It's challenging for their batsmen to hold a record if never given the opportunity.

Finally, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy getting a chance to deliver her newest gem.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not fail again.

If this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement remains open for discussion.

Many contend the case for the pressure of a final. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when confronting a historic chase and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was far harder to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this performance followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in training, it was a challenging time because it appeared my form was missing at all," said Healy.

"But once you take the field, your competitive nature kick in and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's fighting spirit has continuously been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in taking over from iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in each encounter, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's spark.

A single was taken off the bowler's initial ball and from there the batsman was on her way.

"An opportunity to take the field and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself that way, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

When she was removed the team required another 66 at run per delivery - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the belief to achieve that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, if necessary, we believe we can succeed."

Those words will be the last competing nations at this World Cup need to hear.

During the last week a belief they will triumph from any situation has become more firm - this triumph succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing through the pain.

However although she later admitted those injuries have delayed thoughts of retirement, this tournament is likely to be her concluding event as leader in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win a global event as captain.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
