Christantus Uche Fuels Straightforward Palace Victory at Shelbourne.

Despite entering their first-ever European adventure, Crystal Palace are learning at a rapid pace. Without key players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a commanding result that virtually guarantees them a place in the Europa Conference League playoffs.

A further three points in their upcoming match against Finnish KuPS should be enough to seal direct entry to the last 16, particularly after a prior stumble against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Grasp the Moment

This match provided a platform for some of Palace's lesser-used talent to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning after joining on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a clinical finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a another, scoring for the second consecutive match.

A Shelbourne side that had concluded their domestic season were outmatched even for a largely second-string Palace outfit. The Londoners were already weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg problems.

The match was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest key players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring with his first touch, only to see his shot blocked.

The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also missed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still scope for improvement in his game.

A solitary worry for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, capping an otherwise positive night for the traveling side.
